Before Erin started, she did something harder than anything she would do here in a workout; she took her husband’s advice! Dan had been a member for a while and suggested she try it. Because of an old knee injury, she was hesitant to give it a shot, but we assured her we’d take it slow. Thankfully, she obliged and came in for Bring A Friend Week. Now, here we are over a year later and it’s become harder to get Erin to take a rest day than it is to get her in for a workout. We’ve gotten to see a whole different side of her, full of grit and goal driven. In CrossFit, the biggest change often happens between the ears and there is no better example. Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right. Right? It’s been amazing to see the changes over a year of thinking “maybe I can.” Congratulations Erin and thank you for being an amazing member!
1. What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
When I first joined Free Will my goals were pretty stand
ard. I wanted to get in shape, lose some weight, and be able to keep up with my 8 year old son. My goals have changed over the course of my time at the gym. I now understand more how movement and community not only help with all the original goals but with my mental health too. My new goal is to continue showing up and building both physical and mental strength. Free Will has definitely given me the ability to believe in myself more and confidently say ” I can do hard things!”
2. How long have you been at Free Will CrossFit?
I joined in November of 2023.
3. What is one health/fitness goal that you plan to achieve in the next 6 months?
In the next few months my goal is to get a handstand and be able to take one or two steps. However more realistically my goal is just to continue to show up!
4. What do you do for a living?
I am a high school math teacher. I currently teach grades 10,11 and 12.
5. You have control of the music. What artists/songs will dominate the playlist?
I enjoy listening to 90’s country music!
